we need to look at conception as opposed to teen pregnancy. the reason why the latino teen pregnancy may be higher compared to other ethnic groups may be do to the fact that other ethnic groups are having abortions (religious beliefs)

I think that in some “cultures”, getting pregnant is a way of proving that you’re a woman. I’ve met teenage mothers who thought that having a child would prove that she was mature.

Comming from a Latin household, I can understand the need of parents talking to their kids about sex and prevention. Luckily for me, I learned about teen pregnancy through the experiences of some friends. And by not following in their foot steps, I have completed my dreams of going to college. Pregnancy prevention should start at home, and parents need to stop treating sex as taboo.
