psychogenic seizures and bi-polar?
my wife has bipolar disorder and has recently having seizures. They happen when she is extremely stressed. they last for several minutes. she has no memory of them. she also has cerebral palsy with mild myoclonus. But during the seizures, her myoclonus increase and she moans and groans through out. I have had experience with many types of seizure in my life but this is new. I researched and it appears to be psychogenic. Has anyone heard of bipolar with psychogenic seizures. She does not respond to anti-elipitics.
Any suggestions on what this may be?
I have had some problems for a while now…last September, I was hospitalized for body tremors. They did a CT scan, MRI, MRI with contrast and many many other tests including a Spinal Tap. Most of my test came back normal or inconclusive due to my severe tremors during testing. Also my B12 level was extremely low, and I have been on prescription B12 injections since September of 2008. I have been to 3 Neurologists. The third one (the current one) has said that my Spinal Tap was slightly abnormal which meant there is pressure on the brain somewhere. She also diagnosed me with Myoclonus Seizures. I’m on Keppra for that. The past 4 months, I’ve started having horrible unbearable headaches and she gave me Naproxen, a muscle relaxer plus a migraine med to take at the onset of the headache, Nothing seems to work. I have headaches daily, some are worse than others. I have noticed the hearing in my right ear is starting to go in and out. On top of the headaches, I have confusion with daily tasks, short term memory loss which is getting worse all the time, dizziness, balance problems, and my seizures are getting worse. I’m now starting to stare off for 20-30 seconds after a seizure which occurs 6-7 times a day. The seizure meds obviously aren’t helping. So, I bring these symptoms to my neurologist. Her response is “I think you are depressed” Let’s try depression meds. Well if muscle relaxers, migraine meds and pain meds don’t help the headaches, why would a depression med make any difference? I’m in the process of trying to find another Neurologist, I haven’t had anymore testings done, because my present Neurologist doesn’t “feel it’s necessary” I’m a 28 year old female.
Thanks for your time in reading this. I’m open to all advice and just wondering what you all think this could be. No, I’m not looking for a “online diagnosis” either. Thanks.
Multiples and their health?
For multiples is it normal for one to have more health problems than the others??
Or would it just be that I have bad genes I guess??
I have bad eyesight
Multiple food allergies
It seems I always had the colds, flu, pneumonia, etc.
In the process of being diagnosied with Myoclonus Dystonia
And now I keep getting these headaches every night.
And my siblings have always been what seems to be “perfect”
I am a triplet, my sister and I are identical, and obviously my brother and I are fraternal.
And my sister and I are on the smaller side, about 5′2″ and 110lbs.
And My brother wears glasses/contacts but that is it.
Anything can be done for Writer’s Cramp?
I have in the past few months developed what I am guessing is writer’s cramp. I already have Myoclonus Dystonia, and I have read up that writer’s cramp can be a symptom. But well it has well not in-abled my ability to write, but has made it very difficult, as I can’t hold a pen the correct way anymore. But is there anything that can be done, I just don’t want to waste my time at a doctors for them to tell me nothing can be done.
No myclonus dystonia is a movement disorder, involuntary jerks in the arms, neck and trunk
Why do I keep twitching like this?
A few months ago, I noticed that my leg would randomly twitch right before I fell asleep and it would wake me. It didn’t happen every night, but frequently enough for me to realize what was going on.
Since, that has pretty much ceased, but seems to have been replaced with other twitches. The one that bugs me the most is the twitch in my middle finger on my right hand. It’s really as if my finger is having a mini seizure and it’s quite disturbing; not painful, but strange feeling.
My right thigh will also randomly twitch when I’m laying around watching TV or something. This isn’t too disturbing. My right eye is disturbing, though. Frequently, it’ll twitch non-stop and it drives me crazy.
There are other parts that have twitched as well, but only once or twice; not enough for me to take it into account.
What is causing this? I’ve noticed that from what I can remember, it’s all the right side of my body. Is this something neurological? What would you suggest I do? I’ve read a little about Myoclonus and Benign Fasciculation Syndrome. I’m not sure that either of those quite fit what I’m feeling. Are there any others that it might be?
Help with a diagnosis, doctors/nurses please?
I have been struggling with receiving an accurate diagnosis since March of ‘08, my symptoms are upper left quadrant abdominal pain, constant upper body twitches described as Myoclonus, daily headaches, low grade fevers (99-101), shaking/tingling of extremities, shortness of breath, chest pain, rapid heart beat (145 at rest),balance problems… I’ve had CT’s that show slightly enlarged liver, and MRI that showed mild terminal mylenation, i’ve had blood tests that are basically normal, I’ve had an irregular period for a while, pituitary tumor was suggested but MRI 8 months ago was normal. Please if you have any ideas at all. Thank you.
Could this be M.S please help I’m worried?

Is this clinically significant? Help please?
Hey, i have recently been having neurological symptoms, these include:
Myoclonus and possibly other seizures
Headaches- pressure and dull
Sudden blurred/double vision
Slight memory and speech problems
Possible personality change ETC
I’ve been to a neurologist who is going to give me an MRI and an EEG.
I have an appointment next week and i don’t know whether i should mention that i think I have bradycardia (self monitored) and I am often dizzy, experience chest pain and often close to fainting. I also think that this might give me problems with circulation in my legs.
Do you think it’s clinically significant for my next neurology appointment?
And what do you think it means anyway?
Btw, I am 18, healthy weight and BMI.
Thankyou in advance
Tasha xxxxx
Btw, April. I’m sorry that you are suffering with a brain tumour, but that does’nt mean you are a self appointed expert. There are over 100 different seizures, and most people who are’nt really educated in the matter think the only seizure is grand mal/ tonic-clonic.
I dont actually think i have personality changes, which is why i stated ‘possible’, but everyone else has been saying this.
AND I havn’t been diagnosing myself.
My question was should i mention my dizzyness and possible bradycardia
Neurological symptoms or just anxiety? Opinions?
For the past 6 months or so I have been having random twitches in my arms and legs. They usually happen when I’m sitting or laying down, relaxed, in the evening. I’m not about to fall asleep, I’m wide awake when they happen, so it’s not a hypnic myoclonus. They don’t last more than a few seconds but they happen on an almost daily basis, pretty much always in the evening.
My doctor said it was probably anxiety and that I shouldn’t worry too much about it. I thought that sounded like a legitimate explanation (I have been under a lot of stress lately) so I went with it. The other night though, I had a very bizarre episode that made me rethink the “stress” diagnosis.
I woke up at about 3 AM out of sleep to dozens of flashing lights in front of my eyes. My arms were completely numb/tingly and twitching uncontrollably, and my legs felt rigid and heavy. My eyes felt like they were rolling, and I couldn’t clear my vision of the lights. Finally after a few minutes it passed, and I felt normal after that.
So now I’m left wondering what on earth happened to me, and if it’s in some way connected to the random “twitches” I’ve been having for the past few months. Any ideas? I plan on telling my doctor when I see them again in January if nothing else changes between now and then, but I’m just wondering in the meantime what might be going on.
Rheumatic/ Neurological Conditions & Mold?
Hi, I am a 25 year old that worked in an area school that was full of mold and mildew…I stayed sick from several bouts of sinus infections, bronchitis, pneumonitis and so on…I have since been experiencing many symptoms that possibly have Neurological & Rheumatic causes…Could this be the cause of some of my issues? I have Fibromyalgia, Neuropathy, Myoclonus, Hypermobility Syndrome and many other things…I am scheduled to see a Neurologist at Emory U on January 12th…Symptoms include burning sensations (everywhere, esp chest), tingling sensations, impaired judgment, impaired concentration, impaired memory, migraines, Numbness, Decreased Muscular Control, Stiffness, Swelling, Fatigue (Mental & Physical), Malaise, Depression…These symptoms started a year ago, and has finally made it so that I am unable to work…Could my conditions be caused by my exposure to my exposure to mold and mildew?
